Language courses part of security plan

Carroll Community College is offering foreign language classes as part of the National Security Language Initiative. The initiative will increase the number of Americans learning Arabic, Chinese and other foreign languages. Carroll's offerings include:

Arabic Basic 1. The cost is $142 (senior citizens $25). Classes are from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 19 to Nov. 14 at the main campus.

Chinese Basic 1. The cost is $142 (senior citizens $25). Classes are from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 20 to Nov. 15, main campus.

Hindi and Urdu Basic 1. The cost is $126 (senior citizens $25). Classes are from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, Oct. 2 to Nov. 20 at the Sykesville Center. Information: 410-386-8100.
