Senior Singers to begin season

The Senior Singers will begin their new season with a rehearsal at 9:45 a.m. Sept. 6 at Westminster United Methodist Church, East Main and Center streets.

This is an ecumenical chorus with members from all over Carroll and surrounding counties who sing a variety of music.

Dick Blanchard is the group's director, and Barbara Groff is accompanist.

Over the summer, the Senior Singers received new invitations to perform and new music to learn.

New members are welcome. There are no auditions.

County arts center announces classes

The Carroll County Arts Center has announced its fall classes.

Programs will be held at the Carroll Arts Center, 91 W. Main St., Westminster. Adult classes include: Painting with Pastels, Introduction to the Basics of Painting, Painting Still Life, Pen & Ink, Beads & Bags, Watercolor Techniques, Yoga for Beginners, Spontaneous Painting and Singing for the Stage.

Children and teen classes and workshops include Theatrix, Teens on Stage, Mommy & Me Make Masterpieces, Art for Homeschoolers, Young at Art, Critters & Monsters, Printmaking for Teens, Intro to Drawing for Homeschoolers, School's Out -- Art's In, Music Together and Free Style Compositions for Teens.
