Men's health expo set for Sept. 6

Upper Chesapeake Health will hold a free men's health expo from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 6 at the American Legion, 501 St. John's St., Havre de Grace.

The expo will feature physicians speaking on various topics, including men's heart health, erectile dysfunction and prostate health, tobacco-related cancers and colorectal wellness.

Free health screenings will be available.

Seminar to focus on long-term care

Melissa Barnickel, a specialist in long-term-care insurance, will present a free seminar at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 12 at Rock Spring Village, 1 Colgate Drive, Forest Hill.

She will explore options for long-term care for those in long-term care and those planning for it.

`Dining with Docs' planned at hospital

Upper Chesapeake Health will hold a "Dining with Docs" dinner, lecture and discussion at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 13 in Upper Chesapeake Medical Center's Chesapeake Conference Center.

Dr. Brent Birely and Dr. Jeffrey D. Horowitz will discuss "Everything You Wanted to Know About Plastic Surgery and Skin Care, But Were Afraid to Ask."

Participants can learn what is new in plastic surgery and skin care, what works and what is right for them.

The cost is $5, cash only. Reservations are required.

Hospital walk, run will be held Sept. 30

Harford Memorial Hospital will hold the 10th annual 5K Celebration Run & Fun Walk on Sept. 30, rain or shine, at the hospital on South Union Avenue.

The race starts at 8:30 a.m., with registration from 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. Entry fee is $12 for registration by Sept. 15 and $18 the day of the race, and includes a race shirt.

Walkers will follow the runners on a course of about a mile. The race will conclude at the hospital with trophy presentations.

Upper Chesapeake offers programs

Upper Chesapeake Health offers support groups and classes that are free to the public.

Many support groups for specific diseases and medical problems meet at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, while others meet at Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace.

The Upper Chesapeake Family Birthplace also offers classes and support groups for expectant parents, new parents and pregnant teens at the Upper Chesapeake Medical Center.

Bereavement support groups for parents who have lost a child and adults who have been widowed also are available.

Upper Chesapeake Health- Link provides free blood pressure screenings throughout Harford County.

Beach trip is going to winner of raffle

The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region is holding a "Week at the Beach Raffle" fundraiser.

The prize is a one-week stay in a 2,000-square-foot oceanfront condominium on 143rd Street in Ocean City.

Tickets are $5 each or three tickets for $10.

The winning ticket will be drawn Oct. 23 at the BANCD Golf Tournament to benefit The Arc. The winner need not be present to win.
