New home's sale benefits charities

With the help of its trade partners, Crofton-based Caruso Homes raised $163,138 for charities through the sale of its newly built "House for Hope" outside Fredericksburg, Va.

The 2,000-square-foot home has four bedrooms and two 1/2 bathrooms. Its sale price was not available.

Caruso Homes will donate $81,569 of the sale proceeds to Hope International, a global, faith-based, nonprofit organization that, under the House for Hope program, gives small business loans to entrepreneurs living in poverty.

The Fredericksburg Christian Health Center, a medical clinic that works primarily with uninsured residents in Spotsylvania County, will receive $54,651. The remaining $26,918 will be donated to the Rappahannock Council for Domestic Violence.

Eastport group schedules mixer

Chamber plans mixer at cafe

The Baltimore-Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce will hold a business mixer from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Something Special Coffee House, 504 Main St., Laurel.

The cost is $12 with paid advance registration, $22 for nonmembers and at the door.

Bank official joins college foundation

Mitchell Krebs, BankAnnapolis senior vice president for business development, was recently elected to the Anne Arundel Community College Foundation Board.

The foundation's mission is to secure and steward private funds to enhance the educational endeavors of the college.

BankAnnapolis supports a company-wide policy encouraging its employees to actively participate in community groups by volunteering time and expertise.

Hospice golf outing needs sponsorships

Hospice of the Chesapeake seeks sponsors for its fourth annual golf tournament Sept. 26.

Sponsorship levels range from $400 to $5,000 and will be used to support Hospice of the Chesapeake's programs and services in Anne Arundel and Prince George's counties.

Tech Council seeks nominees

The Anne Arundel Tech Council is accepting nominations for its second annual awards ceremony to be held Nov. 1 at the Loews Annapolis Hotel.

The AATC TechAwards 06 celebration honors outstanding entrepreneurship, innovation and leadership among technology companies in Anne Arundel County.

This year's six award categories will recognize innovators and leaders, companies that have fostered entrepreneurship, and companies and individuals dedicated to educational outreach.
