Manny Ramirez, outfielder, Red Sox --Ramirez added to a splendid season by going 8-for-11 with two home runs, seven RBIs and an .850 on-base percentage during last weekend's five-game showdown with the Yankees.

Travis Hafner, designated hitter, Indians -- Hafner has continued his Most Valuable Player-caliber efforts, going 13-for-28 (.464) with four homers and 10 RBIs in his past eight games entering last night.

C.C. Sabathia, pitcher, Indians -- Sabathia has allowed only five runs in 31 innings in his past four starts and has 30 strikeouts and five walks during that stretch.


Josh Beckett, pitcher, Red Sox -- Beckett has allowed 23 earned runs and walked 13 in his past 23 2/3 innings. He's 0-3 in that stretch.

Mark Buehrle, pitcher, White Sox -- He is 1-7 with an 8.10 ERA in his past 10 outings.

Jonny Gomes, outfielder, Devil Rays -- After a scorching start, Gomes has batted .150 with three homers and 11 RBIs in July and August.
