Oh, `Mamma'

The lowdown -- Catch Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus' Mamma Mia!, back for two weeks at the Hippodrome Theatre from Tuesday through Sept. 10. Featuring the songs of ABBA, the musical tells the story of a daughter's quest on a Greek island to discover the identity of her father on the eve of her wedding. Songs include "Dancing Queen," "The Winner Takes It All," "Money, Money, Money" and "Take A Chance on Me."

If you go -- Mamma Mia! is at 8 Tuesday through Saturday nights, 2 p.m. Saturdays, and 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sundays at the Hippodrome Theatre at the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center, 12 N. punk `opera'

The lowdown -- Cyberpunk Opera is an out-of-the-box musical written and directed by Don Elwell with music by James Henriques. Taking place in the year 2026, the story blends the lines between humans and digitally enhanced characters in a future dominated by "hackers, intelligent mainframes, religious wackos, avatars, cops and programming wizards." The play centers on how people pursue humanity in a technology-driven world.

If you go -- Cyberpunk Opera runs at 8 p.m. tonight, Saturday, Sept. 1 and 2, and at 2 p.m. Sunday and Sept. 3. Located at the Hamilton Arts Collective, at Harford and Hamilton avenues.
