Iron girls -- The First RYKA Iron Girl Columbia Women's Triathlon, produced by the Columbia Triathlon Association Inc., will be held Sunday at Centennial Park in Ellicott City. The event includes a 1K swim, a 30K bike ride and a 5K run. About 1,850 athletes, ages 14 to 76, have registered to participate. Above, the Seattle, Wash., Iron Girl event in 2005. Susan Williams, Olympic bronze medalist in triathlon, will discuss her experiences at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Sheraton Columbia hotel. A Health and Fitness Expo is planned from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Sheraton. Ironman athlete Desiree Ficker and Columbia Triathlon champion Margaret Shapiro will participate in the triathlon. Maryland's first lady, Kendel Ehrlich, will welcome the athletes across the finish line and present awards.
