Executive hopefuls to speak

The seven candidates for Anne Arundel county executive will participate in a candidates forum tomorrow evening at Anne Arundel Community College.

The debate will run from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Pascal Center on the Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway. It is being sponsored by the college, the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce, Capital-Gazette Newspapers and Comcast.

The moderator for the forum will be Carolyn Black-Sotir, an actress and journalist. Panel members include Tom Marquardt, executive editor of Capital-Gazette Newspapers; Anne Nelson, co-president of the League of Women Voters of Anne Arundel County; and a representative of the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce.

Democratic candidates Dennis Callahan and George F. Johnson IV will square off from 7:10 p.m. to 8 p.m. Republican candidates Tom Angelis, Phillip D. Bissett, David G. Boschert, John R. Leopold and Gregory V. Nourse will debate from 8:15 to 9:45 p.m. The forum will be aired live on cable Channel 95.

The primary winners for county executive and County Council will have a debate on Oct. 19 at the college; and the candidates in the 3rd District congressional race will have a forum on Oct. 26 at AACC's Arundel Mills campus.
