Vandalism incidents under investigation

Howard County police are investigating 25 incidents of vandalism, some of which included swastikas and racial slurs, in Clarksville, they said yesterday.

The vandalism targeted the River Hill area, and police believe it occurred overnight Tuesday. The damage included broken car windshields, slashed tires and graffiti on street signs.

Llewellyn said that police believe no individual was targeted. The department is offering a $500 reward for information that leads to an arrest.

"It's critical for people in these communities to contact us if they saw something suspicious -- people who didn't look familiar, a vehicle that was unusual or driving slowly," said police spokeswoman Sherry Llewellyn.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 410-313-3700.
