INTERCEPTION HIGHWAY

The defense jumped all over quarterbacks Brian St. Pierre and Drew Olson. Safety Jamaine Winborne intercepted St. Pierre twice, and cornerback Chris McAlister and linebacker Dennis Haley picked off Olson. Linebacker Ray Lewis nearly snatched another pass by Olson, but the ball slipped through Lewis' hands.

TEMPER, TEMPER

Linebacker Gary Stills and running back B.J. Dean scuffled during an 11-on-11 drill, which ended with Stills throwing Dean to the ground. Coach Brian Billick warned both players before things got out of hand, and the tension quickly dissipated.

A FEW GEMS

It wasn't all bad for St. Pierre, who fired a pass to rookie wide receiver Demetrius Williams between Lewis and safeties Ed Reed and Dawan Landry. On the next pass play, St. Pierre perfectly lofted a pass over tight end Quinn Sypniewski's left shoulder and into his hands.

QUOTABLE

"Don't be doing the drills just to do them! Do them right!"

Wide receivers coach Mike Johnson, who voiced his displeasure with the receivers during an exercise in which they were supposed to avoid getting jammed by the cornerbacks. INJURIES

Offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden (personal reasons), guard Brian Rimpf (hamstring), safeties B.J. Ward (migraines) and Steve Paris (groin), and tight end Rob Abiamiri (calf) did not practice.
