2005 El Coto de Rioja Rosado ($10)

In the dog days of August, few wines are more refreshing than a good dry rose. This Spanish version, made from a blend of two fine red wine grapes (tempranillo and garnacha), is bone dry, fresh, clean and uncomplicated. It offers penetrating flavors of cherries, strawberries and rose hips. Chill it and drink it between now and the baseball playoffs. Serve with picnic food.
