TODAY

CITY COUNCIL -- Baltimore City Council will meet at 5 p.m. in the Curran Conference Room on the fourth floor of City Hall, 100 N. Holliday St. Among items to be discussed is a proposed resolution asking Maryland lawmakers to dissolve the city-state partnership that governs Baltimore's public schools.

HARFORD SCHOOLS -- The Harford County Board of Education will hold a business meeting at 7 p.m. at 102 S. Hickory Ave., Bel Air. Agenda items include approval of food service contracts. 410-588-5203.

TOMORROW

SUMMER CONCERT -- The Bay Country Gentlemen men's chorus will perform as part of the 2006 Aberdeen Free Summer Concert series at 7 p.m. in Festival Park at Howard and Franklin streets. Rain location will be Aberdeen Middle School. 410-939-6767.

WEDNESDAY

ARMY JAZZ BAND -- The U.S. Army Field Band Jazz Ambassadors will give a concert at 7 p.m. at the William A. Humbert Amphitheater, Hickory Avenue and Lee Way in Bel Air. Admission is free. Concertgoers should bring lawn chairs. Rain location is Fallston High School on Route 152. 410-803-9784.

THURSDAY

HOWARD SCHOOLS -- The Howard County Board of Education will hold meetings at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the Applications and Research Laboratory Building, 10920 Route 108, Ellicott City. Public hearings will be held at the 7:30 p.m. session on policies involving civility, testing and research projects.

FRIDAY

PARK CONCERT -- Sykesville Parks and Recreation will present another in its Concert in the Park series from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Millard Cooper Park. Blues on Board will perform. Visitors should bring chairs or blankets. Free. 410-795-8959.

SATURDAY

ITALIAN FESTIVAL -- The annual Italian festival honoring St. Gabriel will be held from noon to 8 p.m. at St. Leo's Roman Catholic Church in Little Italy. It will resume Sunday after the 9:30 a.m. Mass and procession at St. Leo's and continue until 8 p.m. 410-675-7275.

BLUES FESTIVAL -- Common Ground on the Hill will present its annual Hot August Blues Festival from noon to 10 p.m. at Oregon Ridge Park in Cockeysville. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the gate. Children 12 and younger are admitted free. 410-857-2771 or 877-321-3378.

SUNDAY

EVENING OF JAZZ -- The Lavenia Nesmith Quintet will be featured in an "Evening of Jazz" from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at The Other Barn in the Oakland Mills Village Center, 5851 Robert Oliver Place. Admission to the event, sponsored by Oakland Mills Community Association, is $10. 410-730-1129.
