Fire company car show set for Saturday

Reese Volunteer Fire Company will hold a car show from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday on the carnival grounds on Route 140.

Activities will include food, music, raffles and entertainment for all ages.

Rain date is Aug. 26.

Library offers fun activities

Westminster branch library, 50 E. Main St., will offer:

"Jigsaw Jumble" for ages 7 to 12 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow. Jigsaws and other puzzles will be played.

"Barbecue With the Vampire" at 7 p.m. tomorrow for teens to solve the mystery of who really is the vampire in teens' clothing.

"Drawing the Painting Techniques" for ages 7 to 14 at 1 p.m. Tuesday. Art Works will offer this preview class showing how to draw in several media. Registration is required.

Senior center offers classes this fall

The Westminster Senior Center, 125 Stoner Ave., will offer classes this fall.

Quilting classes will start Sept. 2. The cost is $24 for 12 weeks. Registration is required by Aug. 24.

A class in handmade pottery will start Sept. 12. The cost is $10 for 10 weeks, plus materials. Registration is required by Aug. 29.

Knights of Columbus to hold Crafter's Fair

The Westminster Knights of Columbus Council 1393 will hold its Crafter's Fair and Flea Market from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 30 on the parking lot of St. John Catholic Church, rain or shine.

Vendors are needed. Spaces are $35 each or two for $60. More space can be arranged upon request in advance. Spots are prepaid and nonrefundable.

Eldersburg library offers fun for all

Eldersburg branch library, 6400 W. Hemlock Drive, is offering:

"Paper and Pages: Origami Fun" for ages 7 to 10 at 1 p.m. tomorrow.

"Simon Says Sudoku!" at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday for adults and teens.

"Bats! Beasts or Best Friends?" for ages 7 to 12 at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Richard Anderson from the Snyder Foundation will discuss bat myths and characteristics, and show some specimens.

Summer Arts and Crafts for all ages (children younger than 3 with an adult) from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

"Teen Mystery Game: Roswell That Ends Well" at 7 p.m. Wednesday for teens. This story involves extraterrestrial foul play at a luau at Point Doom Beach House.

"CSI: Tricks of the Trade" at 7 p.m. Thursday for teens. Shauna Scott will discuss real crime scene investigation.

"Kindermusik" for young children Thursday and Friday. The program combines music, movement and literacy for young children. Class for ages 3 to 4 is at 1:30 p.m., and 5 to 7 at 2:30 p.m.

"Pots & Plots: A Smorgasbord of Culinary Mystery Recipes" at 6 p.m. Aug. 21 for adults. Personal Chef Nancy Lynch will present an interactive cooking class using recipes from Diane Mott Davidson's novel Sticks & Scones. The book will be discussed while preparing and sampling its recipes.

Terry Serio will discuss "The Fast Food Dilemma" at 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

A peach festival will be held with a surprise peach dessert at noon Aug. 22. Charlie Eichler will present a musical program at 12:30 p.m.

A trip to Longwood Gardens will be taken Aug. 30.

S. Carroll High to hold basket bingo

South Carroll High School's School Improvement Team will hold a Back to School Basket Bingo for its Agenda Book Program Aug. 25.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for games at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at 1320 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield.

Door prizes, vendors, games and concessions will be featured. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Tables for groups of six or more are available at the school.
