`Frida' to be shown at Carroll Arts Center

The biopic of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, Frida, will be shown at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday at the Carroll Arts Center, 91 W. Main St., Westminster.

Kahlo, portrayed by Salma Hayek, channeled the pain of a crippling injury and her tempestuous marriage to painter Diego Rivera (played by Alfred Molina) into her work.

Tickets are $5 for adults and $4 for Arts Council members, seniors 60 and older and children 12 and younger. The 2002 film is rated R.

Community Chorus seeks new members

Carroll Community College Community Chorus is seeking new members. The chorus is open to college students, faculty and others who enjoy singing.

Rehearsals will be held at 7 p.m. Mondays beginning Aug. 28 in the Rehearsal Hall of the Scott Center at the college, 1601 Washington Road, Westminster.

Children's Chorus elects president

The Children's Chorus of Carroll County has announced the election of Gail Slater as president of the board of directors and Diane Granic as general manager.

Other officers are: Diane Jones, executive director of the chorus; Diana Greene (Director); Audrey Cimino, adviser to the board; Marge Boudreaux, Deb Jezierski, John Knox, Sharon Sears, Caroline Babylon, Rod Boudreaux, Gordon Johnson, Richard Johnson, Kevin Wagman, board members; Shannon Kiser, director; and Russ Vriezen, financial manager of the chorus.
