Basket co. luncheon aids breast cancer

Dinah Seisman, independent branch adviser for Longaberger Basket Co., and other associates will sponsor a Breast Cancer Awareness Luncheon Hope Gathering from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1100 Philadelphia Road, Joppa.

Tickets are $55 and include lunch and 2006 Horizon of Hope Basket, door prizes and silent auction.

Proceeds will benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation of Maryland.

Pediatric unit given $125,000 donation

The Board of Trustees of the Ronald McDonald House Charities has given the Upper Chesapeake Health Foundation a $125,000 donation to the "We're Here for Life Campaign" for a new Pediatric Critical Care Room at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center (UCMC).

The Pediatric Critical Care Room will be in the newly expanded emergency department at UCMC.

When complete in 2008, the $34.9 million medical center project will feature 14 additional emergency treatment areas, three new surgical suites and more medical/surgical beds and family brthplace suites.

UCH has opened a Pediatric Emergency Department at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center this year during the peak hours of 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
