Trips to Vermont, Monticello planned

The Annapolis Senior Center has announced several trips:

Aug. 14-18, Vermont with lunch at Trappe Family Lodge, a cruise on Lake Champlain and a tour of Shelburne. Participants will be staying at Cortina Lodge.

Sept. 17-21, the Biltmore Estate and Monticello.

Oct. 19, Toby's Dinner Theatre in Baltimore to see Ragtime.

Two area outings set by Pascal center

The Pascal Senior Center, 125 Dorsey Road Glen Burnie, has announced these trips:

Tomorrow, to the Inner Harbor with buffet at Phillips Restaurant and sightseeing at Top of the World in the World Trade Center. Sightseeing will also include an amphibious-vehicle tour of downtown.

Aug. 17, to the Butterfly Conservatory at Brookside Gardens, Wheaton. Lunch will be at Mr. K's Tollhouse. Registration: 410-222-6680.

Center announces Pennsylvania trips

The O'Malley Senior Center has scheduled a trip Nov. 7 to QVC Studios and King of Prussia Mall in Pennsylvania. The cost is $37, due by Oct. 3.

Volunteers sought to teach life skills

The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging is seeking "volunteer grandparents" to work with children for 15 to 20 hours a week. Activities include mentoring, tutoring and giving advice on life skills, with extra attention to children in Head Start or special education, or who are living in shelters or family-support centers.

Participants must be income-eligible and at least 60 years old. Benefits include a tax-free stipend, paid training, free transportation, sick leave, lunches and medical exams. 410-222- 4464.
