Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes from police reports in Baltimore and Baltimore County.



Arrest -- Johnny Johnson, 43, was arrested Friday at his home in the 2700 block of Hugo Ave. by members of the Regional Warrant Apprehension Task Force on a charge of first-degree murder. He is accused of stabbing Gary Shipman, 27, in the 500 block of Sheridan Ave. on July 12.


Arrest -- Naylor Harrison, 36, of New Windsor, was arrested Friday in Chester, Pa., by local police and members of the warrant task force on a warrant charging him with robbing nearly two dozen people playing cards May 25 at a social club in the 4600 block of Eastern Ave.

Shoplifting/assault -- Security Officer John Dew was injured Sunday evening when he attempted to arrest a man for shoplifting at a Safeway store in the 2100 block of Boston St. During a struggle, the man bit Dew on an arm and escaped. Dew was treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Burglary -- While the occupant was hospitalized, someone entered his home in the 200 block of N. Luzerne Ave. about noon Sunday through the front door, ransacked several rooms and left after turning on the burners of a stove.


Robberies -- Two men, one with a handgun, robbed a 22-year-old man of his keys, $80 and a cell phone in the 700 block of Ryan St. about 2:20 a.m. Saturday. Ten minutes later, the same men robbed a man of his cell phone as the victim approached his home in the 1300 block of James St.


Shooting -- A 28-year-old man was shot in the head in the stairwell of an apartment building in the 2300 block of Winchester St. about 1 a.m. Sunday and was in serious condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Stabbing -- A 19-year-old was outside a carryout in the 1200 block of W. North Ave. about 2 p.m. Sunday when another man demanded his money. When the victim said he had none, he was stabbed in the back. He was treated at Shock Trauma.

Baltimore County

White Marsh

Burglary -- While the occupants were in the backyard, someone entered a house in the 7900 block of Elmhurst Ave. between 1:15 p.m. and 2:15 p.m. Saturday through the front door and stole jewelry, cash and a camera - all valued at nearly $4,700.

North Point

School break-in -- Someone broke into High Road School in the 7700 block of German Hill Road on Sunday and destroyed several windows. It was not known if property was stolen from the school, which enrolls emotionally disturbed and autistic students.
