Blue Jays update

Before beating the Chicago White Sox yesterday, the Blue Jays (58-53) had lost seven straight. They are eight back in the American League wild-card race. The Blue Jays are 8-5 against the Orioles this season. Lilly, today's starter, has beaten the Orioles three times this season. Halladay, Wednesday's starter, tossed a complete-game win against the Orioles in June. Center fielder Vernon Wells has bashed Orioles pitching for a .362 average, four homers and 13 RBIs this season. He has been Toronto's best all-around hitter with a .321 average, 26 homers and 80 RBIs. Third baseman Troy Glaus leads the club with 31 homers and 85 RBIs. Former Orioles closer B.J. Ryan remains imposing in the ninth inning with a 1.51 ERA and 25 saves. He has 63 strikeouts in 53 2/3 innings.
