Foundation formed for grants, students

The Chartwell Foundation Inc. has been formed as a local charitable grant-making organization.

Its mission is to raise money and send grants to nonprofit organizations in Maryland and award scholarships to qualified students attending accredited colleges and universities.

Anne Arundel Economic Development Corp. has begun a redesign of its Web site.

Boys & Girls Clubs honor company

Watkins, Meegan, Drury & Company, L.L.C.'s Annapolis office has received the Community Corporate Service Award from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County.

The service award was based on Watkins Meegan's extensive support of the clubs.

Watkins Meegan was also recently named by Washington Business Journal as one of the 50 Best Places to Work in the Washington area.

Software developer joins Parole center

Vsi has joined the Chesapeake Innovation Center in Parole.

Marine agencies dedicate new office

The American Boat & Yacht Council and its educational affiliate, Westlawn Institute of Marine Technology, have a new headquarters at 613 Third St. in Eastport.

The new site is named the ABYC Bunzl Maritime Trades Building in honor of the council foundation's main benefactor, Richard Bunzl.

The council develops, writes and updates safety standards for boat building and repair in the United States.

Westlawn Institute of Marine Technology was founded in 1930 and is the only nationally accredited and state certified distance learning school of small craft design in the United States.

Chamber to study housing shortage

The Annapolis & Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce has formed a task force to study and find long-term solutions to the county's shortage of workforce housing.
