Camp Update

August 05, 2006|By MIKE PRESTON

When the Ravens drafted Colorado tight end Quinn Sypniewski in the fifth round in April, they knew the 6-foot-6, 270-pound Sypniewski could block. But so far in training camp, he has been catching everything thrown his way, including a diving reception of a 30-yard pass from quarterback Kyle Boller. If he continues to play well, Sypniewski makes the roster.

Cornerback Samari Rolle made a short McNair pass disappear, and 50 yards later he had what would have been a touchdown in a game. Rolle jumped in front of a McNair pass and was 15 yards down the field before anyone on the offense realized he made the interception.

"If his upper body ever catches up to his lower body, he could really be a 380-pound guy. Right now, he's a little puppy, but he could become a really big puppy."

Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan on No. 1 draft pick, 340-pound defensive tackle Haloti Ngata INJURIES

Linebacker Dan Cody (ankle), cornerback David Pittman (hamstring) and receiver Rufus Skillern (calf) did not practice.
