Phillips Edison & Co., a Baltimore-based shopping center owner/management and development company, acquired the 147,112-square-foot Geyer Springs center in Little Rock, Ark.

Hanger Orthopedic Group Inc. of Bethesda acquired Fargo, N.D.-based Regional Artificial Limb & Brace Co. Inc.

New contract

Thomas & Herbert Consulting LLC of Silver Spring was chosen to take part in a $95 million blanket purchase agreement by the Air Force Medical Support Agency to supply information technology management and consulting services.

CompuDyne Corp. signed a $900,000 contract with Chesapeake, Va., to provide a public safety system that includes a new computer-aided dispatch, records management and field reporting system.

The Baltimore Jewish Council, the community relations and political unit of The Associated, elected Jon Laria as first vice president.

Backyard Billy's Patio and Fireplace Inc. expanded its store at 300 Drummer Drive in Grasonville, quadrupling its interior space; the indoor/outdoor leisure furnishings store has four times its old indoor floor space and more than 2 acres of "backyard" show space.

Sarles Boatyard & Marina in Annapolis opened a yacht brokerage, Sarles Boatyard Yacht Sales, at its Eastport facility.
