Ravens win special attention

Team hopes improvement on special teams pays off in increased productivity on field

During the offseason, the Ravens addressed a need to bolster their rush defense by drafting massive defensive tackle Haloti Ngata. Then the organization improved the quarterback position by engineering a trade for 2003 NFL co-Most Valuable Player Steve McNair.

In a similar yet quieter fashion, the franchise upgraded its special teams by adding and retaining players who - while not household names for their play on offense or defense - are highly regarded as solid special teams contributors.

Ravens Training Camp Through Aug. 19, McDaniel College, Westminster Today: 8:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.; 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
