Ready for some football? Ever have one of those days when the first shower doesn't take and the second one leaves you needing a third? Try blogging from Ravens training camp and Camden Yards.
That'll do it.
I wanted to pass along a few observations from McDaniel College.
I attended the morning practice after swinging by the Best Western, which doubles as the Ravens' headquarters, to pick up my credential and parking pass. Some players were walking to their cars as I exited mine, most notably Ray Lewis. That'll get you fired up early. I almost broke out into a dance, but too many people were watching.
There's been a lot of talk about how fans will accept Lewis this season after he seemed ready and willing to leave Baltimore. If the first two days of camp are any indication, he's still wildly popular.
Lewis signed autographs after the morning session, and fans screamed his name as he drew close. But I did have one observer tell me that the "Ray, Ray" chants haven't been as prominent as in past years. Steve McNair, Todd Heap and Ed Reed seem to be getting most of the love.
By the way, fans were filing in long before the practice started. The place was packed despite the oppressive heat. It's hard not to get excited in that atmosphere. It's also hard not to sweat off 20 pounds. firstname.lastname@example.org
