Battelle nominated for neighbor award

Battelle, an international research and technology development organization with offices in Aberdeen, was recently nominated for the Good Neighbor Award in Harford County for its partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters' in-school mentoring program, Bigs in School.

Battelle employees have been matched with Hall's Cross Roads Elementary students as part of the program since spring 2005. Since then, the matches have grown significantly in number and strength, led by Battelle's program coordinator, Jane Hinte.

Big Brothers Big Sisters instituted Bigs in School six years ago in an effort to provide busy people with an opportunity to share their experiences, wisdom and time to influence children.

Information: 410-243-4000.
