From The Sun, Aug 4, 1985, edition: Nearly three years after construction began, the new 2.5-mile section of Route 32 is officially ready for traffic.

The new section of Route 32, which runs from Broken Land Parkway to Pindell School Road in Columbia, will officially be open to traffic after a dedication ceremony.

However, motorists have already been making use of the road, ignoring barricades; several have received summonses from police. The road gives Columbia residents a convenient southern access from Interstate 95.
