Program offered for expectant mothers

Anne Arundel Medical Center is offering the following programs for expecting parents and their families about information on prenatal care, birthing and infant care:

Clatanoff Tour: Expectant mothers and their partners will tour the Clatanoff Pavilion in a free one-hour program of questions and answers on delivery.

Birth Class: for expectant mothers and partners on normal labor and birth, anesthesia, birth technologies, Caesarian birth and information on baby safety. Fee: $60.

Refresher Birth Class: for mothers experiencing their second pregnancy. Fee: $45.

Spa Mama: on making an expectant mother comfortable with massage, aromatherapy, using the birth ball and additional positions during pregnancy. Fee: $25.

Hypno Birthing: on use of hypnosis and other natural forms of pain management to achieve relaxation and relief during childbirth and decrease stress. Fee: $200.

Prenatal Nutrition: a private one-hour consultation with a registered dietitian to aid expectant mothers in meeting nutritional needs for themselves and their baby. Fee: $65.

One Wonderful Day: an intensive one-day birth class prepares the expectant mother and companion for labor, birthing and early postpartum. A tour of the Clatanoff Pavilion is included. Fee: $70.

Marvelous Multiples at AAMC: for families who are expecting twins, triplets or more. The program will prepare participants for preterm labor, nourishing multiples, comfort measures, birth and recovery, surviving bed rest and challenges and joys of raising multiple births. Fee: $90.

Dr. Dad: for dads on caring for the new baby. Fee: $50.

Bella Belly: light fare and learning to care for the body and baby throughout the pregnancy. Fee: $10.

I'm Ready for my Epidural: on how to support the laboring mother with an epidural. Fee: $25.

Breastfeeding and the Working Mother: conducted by a board-certified lactation consultant on teaching working mothers on how to maintain a milk supply, choose the right pump and how to balance everything. Fee: $25.

Moving Through Postpartum: participants will learn how Mom and the baby can spend an hour getting in shape. Fee: $50.

Grandparents Update: informs grandparents about birth technology and proper care for newborns. A tour of the Pavilion will also be provided. Fee: $25 for two grandparents.

Beyond the Blues: Postpartum Depression Support Group, for mothers dealing with postpartum depression. Group meets the first Wednesday and Friday of the month.

Car Seat 101: A certified car-seat technician will teach parents to install the best car seat for your baby, family and budget. Fee: $20.

Comenzando bien (Good Beginnings): Un programa de educacion prenatal apropriado para familias Latinas. A class appropriate for Latino families. The class, culturally and linguistically sensitive, is funded by a community grant from the March of Dimes.
