A man was found slumped on a bicycle, dead of a gunshot wound to the head, in the 2600 block of Loyola Southway yesterday morning, police said. The unidentified man was found by police who were called to the scene at 5:05 a.m. based on an initial report of a head injury.
The victim was taken to Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later, police said. Police said they know of no motive, witnesses or suspects.
Two other people were fatally shot Sunday night just a block away, in the 2500 block of Loyola Southway. Bernadette Reed, 47, a Loyola Southway resident, died Sunday. The second victim, John Carter, 49, who also lived on the street, died Thursday.
Investigators were trying to determine yesterday whether there is a connection between the shootings, said Agent Donny Moses, a spokesman for the police department.
An unidentified man also was found shot to death on the 2100 block of Koko Lane yesterday at 11:40 a.m. Police had no further details.
