Westminster police investigate assault

Westminster police are searching for a man who allegedly assaulted a woman Thursday night.

About 10:30 p.m., the woman was getting out of her car behind her home in the first block of Pennsylvania Ave. when an unknown assailant grabbed her around the neck, police said. After a struggle, the man fled on foot toward Winters Street, police said.

The woman suffered minor abrasions but did not need medical attention, police said. Police described the man as 30 to 40 years old, between 6 feet and 6 feet 2 inches tall, thin and with short, dark hair.

Police are offering a $500 reward and ask anyone with information to call 410-857-TIPS (8477).
