'SALSAPOLKALOOZA'

They'll be dancing in the street Saturday at the "Salsapolkalooza" presented by Creative Alliance at the Patterson. Salsa band Son D'Aqui, polka band John Stevens' Doubleshot and other groups will get folks grooving outside at the festival. Dance groups, including Divino Salvador, the Soaring Eagles Dance Troupe and Polka Kids, will also perform. There also will be food, arts and crafts, a sidewalk chalk-drawing contest, free dance lessons, a demonstration of Ukrainian egg-decorating, Professor Horn's Punch and Judy puppet show, a screening of the new original documentary For Sale: The Changing Face of Southeast Baltimore by Southeast Youth Academy students and much more.

WHY / / Because you're ready for some football. And the Ravens mascot knows a thing or two about spirit. One of the three mascots will be at the library to meet fans, sign autographs and pose for pictures. And he'll surely remind visitors that the first preseason Ravens game is just about a week away.

THE FUNNY GUY

Paul Hadfield is one funny guy. Really. He's the "Funny Guy." It's his stage name. Not only does he perform crazy and humorous stage antics, but the comedian, who appears at the "Kids, Parks and Performing Arts" series in Rockville Tuesday, also juggles, unicycles, ladder-walks and tries an array of other wacky feats. Appropriate for all ages, the event takes place outdoors at King Farm Park. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets.

LASERFACE

Part Spider-man and part Marcel Marceau, performing artist Jerome "Laserface" Benton is a mime for the 21st century. His juggling, laser-illusion and pantomime will delight visitors at four Enoch Pratt Free Library branches Tuesday through Aug. 10. Laserface will present a mime and laser light show and teach visitors to juggle.

4-H AND FFA FAIR

It'll be an old-fashioned country fair at the Ag Center in Westminster Saturday through Aug. 4. The annual Carroll County 4-H and FFA Fair will present agricultural exhibits, a livestock sale, horse and mule pulls, live music and entertainment, kids' activities, food and lots more down-home fun. Tomorrow's Monster Truck Extravaganza is $5 in advance, $8 at the gate, but all other fair events are free, including the closing concert by country singer Jamey Johnson on Aug. 4.
