Royals update

The Royals have lost five of their past seven games and have the worst record in baseball at 34-64. They rank last in the American League in ERA and are 12th in runs scored. The Royals are 4-18 against the AL East this season, and the Orioles swept them in May at Camden Yards. Tonight's starter, Redman, allowed one run and seven hits and struck out nine in eight innings against the Boston Red Sox in his last outing. But the Royals' lone All-Star lost, 1-0. The Royals boast few offensive standouts. David DeJesus is batting .306 with an impressive .390 on-base percentage. Mark Grudzielanek is hitting .282 and leads the team with 51 runs. Reggie Sanders and Mark Teahen are tied for the team lead with nine home runs each.
