On July 17, 2006 RICHARD E. VERNON, 59, of Annapolis, MD died of colon cancer complications in the Anne Arundel Medical Center. Richard, who was born in Baltimore grew up in "Pig Town" and attended Baltimore City College High School. He then attended Catonsville Community College, where he graduated with a degree in Correctional Services. He then went to work for the Maryland Division of Corrections where he retired from in 1996 after 30 years of service. During his time with the Division of Corrections he reached the position of Assistant Warden. He most recently worked for Anne Arundel Community College where he attained the rank of Corporal. He also attended the Community College taking numerous career development courses. Richard enjoyed listening to all types of music, attending various concerts, theatre, and sports activities. He is a member of the Cape St. Claire United Methodist Church and has served as coordinating usher. He also enjoyed above all else his time with his wife, son, daughter, and family and grandchildren. Richard is survived by his wife of 39 years, Anna Marie, who he has grown up and older with, as they have known each other since they were both 2 years old. They have been together for 57 years. He is also survived by his son, Matthew Jeremy Vernon and daughter Malinda Cuddy (Vernon). He has three grandchildren; Cole, Alex Ann and Aidan Richard. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, July 22, 2006 at 1 P.M. in the Cape St. Claire U.M. Church. Interment private.
