Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes from police reports in Baltimore and Baltimore County.



Shooting/arrest -- A man was arrested in a house in the 3400 block of Piedmont Ave. about 3 p.m. yesterday as a suspect in the shooting about an hour earlier of a man at Mondawmin Mall. The vicitm had a leg wound and was reported in good condition at Sinai Hospital. Details of the shooting and a motive were not available.


Drug arrests -- A man and woman were arrested Tuesday afternoon in the 1900 block of N. Charles St. and charged with distribution of prescription drugs used by heroin addicts in combination with methadone to produce an effect similar to that of heroin, said Detective David Jones of the district's drug enforcement unit. The arrests came moments after an undercover officer purchased $10 worth of one of the drugs from the man. Seized by police were 149 methadone pills and a quantity of alprazolam, diazepam and clonidine - valued together at $1,700. Charged with distribution was Kim Allen, 42, of the 1600 block of E. 25th St. Charged with conspiracy to distribute was Denise Manning, 32, of the 2700 block of Tivoly Ave.


Victim named -- Police named Gary Shipman, 28, of the 500 block of Sheridan Ave., as the man who was fatally stabbed July 12 while standing on the front porch of his home.

Arrest -- Police arrested Andre Gay, 51, at his home in the 4200 block of Parkside Drive on Tuesday on a warrant charging him with sexually abusing a child in October 2004.


Arrest -- Leon Parker, 23, was arrested Tuesday at his home in the 500 block of Cumberland St. by members of the Regional Warrant Apprehension Task Force on charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder. Parker is accused of shooting Cordell Hardin, 19, and Joseph Harbin, 18, in the Westside Inn in the 300 block of S. Bentalou St. on Dec. 27. Hardin was shot in the head and died at Maryland Shock Trauma Center. Harbin survived wounds to the stomach and neck.


Arrest -- George Jenkins, 22, of the 300 block of Ilchester Ave., was arrested Tuesday at a parole and probation office on a warrant charging him with first-degree murder. He is accused of shooting Demithrius Spears, 32, in the 300 block of E. 27th St. on June 22.

Baltimore County


Burglary -- Jewelry of unknown value was stolen Tuesday from a house in the 19000 block of York Road by someone who entered through a basement window.


Burglary -- A 26-inch TV, a diamond necklace, shoes, 100 digital video discs and $2,000 were stolen Monday from a house in the 7100 block of Rolling Bend Road by someone who entered through a kitchen door.
