Casner is added to business council

The Northeastern Maryland Technology Council has appointed John Casner as its executive director.

Casner joins council President C. Warren Mullins, vice president for Strategic Planning and Business Development at the Battelle Eastern Technology Center, and the NMTC's board of directors in serving the needs of the NMTC's growing technology-based membership.

Casner is a managing partner in the Marketing Advantage Group, a regional consulting resource for firms seeking to improve their strategic position.

Casner's goals are for the NMTC to expand its member-driven programs and workshops where people network, to gain business knowledge and to make connections that help members grow their businesses.

Casner has a degree in mechanical engineering from NJIT and a master's from Loyola College, is certified as a Registered Professional Engineer and is a holder of two U.S. patents.

Honor to highlight special volunteer

Nominations are being accepted through Aug. 4 for the 20th annual Harford's Most Beautiful People volunteer awards.

The award is given to someone whose selfless acts of good will have previously gone unnoticed.

All nominees and their guests will be honored at a program hosted by County Executive David R. Craig in early October. One nominee will represent Harford County at the governor's reception in fall.

Nomination forms are available at all branches of the Harford County Library and senior centers.
