July 15, 2006

VINCENT AUGUSTUS FALLER passed away peacefully on July 12, 2006 at age 92, surrounded by his family. He is survived by Helen Gardiner, his beloved wife of 54 years; by son Douglas Faller, Ph D, MD and spouse Susan Perrine, MD of Boston, by daughters Constance Faller and spouse Chandler Heagey, Nancy Brown and spouse Randolph, Helen Maseda and spouse Manuel, and Katie Buck and spouse Shelton-all of Tampa, and by his dearly loved grandchildren: Natalie, Michael, Randolph, Kathryn, Alexandria, Gabriel, Christian, Isabelle and Aidan. Vincent was born July 26, 1913 in Philadelphia and reared in Carlisle, Pa. He received a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 1938 and was then employed by Greiner Consulting Engineers of Baltimore and Tampa, where he worked for 44 years until retirement in 1982. His work involved planning, design and construction supervision of many major engineering projects involving toll expressways and bridges, airports and marine terminal facilities. He was registered in four states as a Professional Civil Engineer and was a lifetime member of The American Society of Civil Engineers. His work with Greiner was interrupted in 1941 by 3.5 years of overseas service in the U.S. Army during WWII. He served as an anti-aircraft artillery captain in the Central Pacific Theatre. Vincent had a wonderful sense of humor that entertained all who knew him. He was a loving and thoughtful husband and father, so proud of his family. Our hearts are broken. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 10:30 A.M. at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. The Faller family will receive friends on Friday, July 14 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Marsicano-B. Marion Reed-Stowers Funeral Home, 4040 Henderson Boulevard, Tampa, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Vincent's memory to St. Vincent De Paul Society at Christ the King Catholic Church, Tampa, FL, or Life Path Hospice, 12973 Telecom Parkway, Suite 100, Temple Terrace, FL.
