Rangers update

The Rangers are tied for first place in the American League West, though they were only 5-5 in their final 10 games before the All-Star break. The Rangers swept two games from the Orioles in Arlington in May. Tomorrow's starter, Kevin Millwood, beat them, 8-2, in a complete-game outing. Sunday's starter, John Koronka, held the Orioles to one run in 8 1/3 innings in the other loss. Former Oriole Gary Matthews is fifth in the American League with a .328 average. Michael Young, last year's batting champion and the Most Valuable Player of Tuesday's All-Star Game, is hitting .316. Severna Park native Mark Teixeira (Mount St. Joseph) is having a disappointing year with a .275 average and nine home runs.
