Vetiver at Talking Head

The lowdown -- San Francisco folk-rockers Vetiver, who play the Talking Head on Saturday, are touring in support of their May release To Find Me Gone. Band leader Andy Cabic, who grew up in Northern Virginia, had the aid of several "acoustic experimentalists" for the album.

Patty Larkin at Baldwin's Station

The lowdown -- Guitar-based singer/songwriter Patty Larkin plays at Baldwin's Station in Sykesville on Sunday. Her most recent album, La Guitara, Gender Bending Strings, is a collection of female guitarists that spans the global and stylistic spectrums.

Reggae veterans play Sonar

The lowdown -- Roots reggae veterans Israel Vibrations play at Sonar on Saturday. Singers Cecil "Skelly" Spence and Lascelle "Wiss" Bulgin, who will be backed by the Roots Radics Band, met at a rehabilitation center in Jamaica when they contracted polio as children. They found comfort and faith in Rastafari and songwriting and began their recording career 30 years ago. Nasio Fontaine and Lionize will open.
