A 21-year-old man was shot on a West Baltimore street corner early yesterday and later died at a hospital, police said.

Darrell L. Robinson, who lived in the 1300 block of N. Calhoun St. - the block in which he was shot - was standing at Presstman Street, about 1:50 a.m., police said.

After the victim was shot, his father rushed from his home and found his son lying unresponsive on the ground, said Agent Donny Moses, a police spokesman.

Paramedics took him to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead at 2:29 a.m., Moses said.

Bystanders told police that they saw a man with a gun walking away from the scene and that the man turned and fired another shot toward the victim as he yelled expletives. Police said they did not know of a motive.

Robinson was the city's 138th homicide victim this year. The city had recorded 145 at the corresponding time last year.
