Zastrow, Nancy Linthicum

NANCY LINTHICUM ZASTROW, 89, born September 25, 1916, died peacefully on June 7, 2006 at Naples Community Hospital, Naples, FL, following a long illness. A native of Linthicum Heights, MD, she had been a resident of Naples, FL since 1972. Nancy graduated from Temple University where she was a physical education major. She met and married her husband, Harold N. Zastrow, also a graduate and educator from Temple, who preceded her in death in 1973. Mrs. Zastrow taught in Plainfield, NJ before coming back to MD in 1954 where she taught physical education in Anne Arundel County. She then went into special education where she was a teacher, a principal at Sunny Glen Training Center and Supervisor of Special Education. Mrs. Zastrow retired from Howard County as Supervisor of Special Education in 1972. Mrs. Zastrow was a life-long sports enthusiast and served as an umpire for the U.S. Tennis Association. In addition she served and chaired many boards in Naples, FL including St. Matthew's House, Naples Bath and Tennis Club, Arbor Trace and Holly Green. She was also a member of the Anne Arundel Retired Teachers Association and a life member of the Anne Arundel County Historical Society. She was a member of the North Naples United Methodist Church. Nancy was a fine example of a life well lived. A Memorial Service will be held in the Linthicum Heights United Methodist Church on Thursday, July 13 at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
