Wastewater flows into Stony Run

About 5 million gallons of wastewater overflowed into Stony Run after a sewer became blocked in the 3400 block of Gilman Terrace in Hampden, the city Department of Public Works said yesterday. The blockage was discovered Friday night and is believed to have been caused by recent heavy rains, public works officials said. Crews set up a bypass for the line late Friday and cleared the obstruction by 10 a.m. yesterday, officials said. People with concerns may contact the Baltimore Health Department at 410-396-9534.

Man, 20, victim of fatal shooting

A 20-year-old man was shot and killed in Southwest Baltimore last night, police said. The man was driving when he was shot in the back by someone not in his vehicle; he was able to continue for several blocks to the 400 block of Long Island Ave., police said. The man got out of his car and began to run before collapsing, police said. He was taken by ambulance to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he later died. Police were withholding identification of the man because his relatives had not been notified. A spokesman said police did not know a motive and had no suspects.
