Attorney to offer advice to seniors

Attorney Lawrence J. Brill will be at the Bain Center, 5470 Ruth Keeton Way, Columbia, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. July 19 for the 60 Plus Wills and Legal Screening Program.

Services include simple wills, powers of attorney, living wills, small estates and deed changes. The program is open to Howard County residents ages 60 and older. The cost is on a sliding scale, and an appointment is required.

The program, sponsored by the Howard County Department of Citizen Services' Office on Aging, is available on the third Wednesday of each month.

Life coach to visit central library

The central library, 10375 Little Patuxent Parkway, will present a program by business and life coach Marilyn Thorpe, "Make First Impressions Count," at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Classes -- Salima Aza is offering weekly belly-dancing lessons at Slayton House in Wilde Lake Village Center. The classes, sponsored by Wilde Lake Community Association, are held Tuesdays, through Aug. 15. A class for beginners ages 14 and older meets from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays. The cost is $63 for seven weeks; classes have begun, but registration is still open. Columbia residents receive a 10 percent discount. Registration is required.

Fencing classes for those ages 7 and older begin this week at Slayton House. The cost is $48. Equipment is provided, but students must purchase protective equipment; the cost is $15 for men, $20 for women. Tap classes -- Judy Templeton will offer six-week classes in tap dancing, starting tomorrow, at Slayton House on Wilde Lake Village Green. A class for intermediate dancers will be held at 4 p.m. and for beginners at 5 p.m. The cost is $90. 410-772-9448.

Play groups -- Town Center Community Association will hold its summer session of Parents and Tots Play Groups, starting tomorrow. A session for children ages 6 months to 4 years will begin tomorrow. The session for children ages 24 months to 4 years will start Tuesday, and the one for ages 6 months to 24 months will begin Wednesday. All the sessions are held from 10 a.m. to noon and run for eight weeks. The groups are limited to about 15 children. Activities include coloring, play, music and stories. The cost is $20 for Columbia residents; $22 for nonresidents. Siblings can enroll for half-price. Classes fill rapidly. 410-730-4744.

Wilde Lake party -- The Wilde Lake Community Association will offer a family pool party for Wilde Lake residents from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Bryant Woods Pool. The party will feature swimming, pizza and a beverage. The cost is $3. Children to age 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Pool membership is not required. There is no rain date. 410- 730-3987.
