CHICAGO -- At the time last season, the series was supposed to stand as a litmus test for the Orioles, the surprise leaders of the American League East. They arrived at U.S. Cellular Field in mid- May for a four-game showdown with the also surprising Chicago White Sox.

The Orioles rebounded from two close losses to split the series, showing the grit of a potential playoff contender. As the season wore on, the Orioles headed in an entirely different direction than their opponent those four days, and that has remained the case so far this season.

Orioles@White Sox Today, 4:05 p.m., Comcast SportsNet, 1090 AM Starters: Orioles' Rodrigo Lopez (5-9, 6.32) vs. White Sox's Jose Contreras (8-0, 3.54)
