White Sox update

The reigning world champions have picked up where they left off, taking the second-best record in baseball into the four-game series. Even with a loss to the crosstown Cubs yesterday, the White Sox are off to the second-best start in franchise history. However, Chicago remains 2 1/2 games back of the Tigers in the AL Central. The White Sox have won 13 of their past 16 games. Chicago, which leads the AL in runs and home runs, is the only team with four players with 50 or more RBIs. Jim Thome, one of six White Sox All-Stars, hit his league-leading 27th home run yesterday. Contreras takes a 16-game winning streak to the mound tomorrow. The streak is the majors' third longest in 20 years.
