Question Of The Day

The Kickoff

June 29, 2006

Are World Cup officials worse than those in the NFL?

Nah. Soccer just has better actors.

Ken Diehl

Towson

I wouldn't say the World Cup refs are worse. It must be difficult to tell when there is a foul when players fall on the ground, writhe, cry and grimace like they were shot every time they fall over a blade of grass. On the other hand, it would be great to see an NFL player get red-carded every time he "gives them the business."

Jim Kirby

Columbia

With the inordinate amount of bogus offsides calls added to the record-breaking number of yellow and red cards issued, the conspiracist in me cries out that FIFA has a preordained semifinals and final in mind.
