June 29, 2006|By SAM SESSA

J is for Jimmy -- S is for Sook: Vanishing Images of the Chesapeake, acrylic and ink paintings by Eastern Shore artist Jimmy Reynolds, will be on display at ARTFX Gallery starting Saturday. The works combine aspects of old and current Maryland life on and off the water, such as crabs, lighthouses, boats and the Volvo Ocean Race. There will be a dozen larger pieces and about half of an alphabet letter series he plans to turn into a coffee table book, said ARTFX co-owner Megan Evans.

"The stuff is so eclectic," Evans said.

J is for Jimmy -- S is for Sook: Vanishing Images of the Chesapeake runs through July 30 at ARTFX Gallery. There will be a reception 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Sunday. The gallery is at 45 West St. in Annapolis. Hours are 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays and 1 p.m.-6 p.m. Sundays. Call 410-990-4540 or visit
