On April 13 against Colorado, he allowed four runs and eight hits in 4 1/3 innings.

On April 18 against San Francisco, he allowed one hit and walked three in 2 1/3 scoreless innings before leaving with a cramp in his right calf muscle.

On April 23 against the Dodgers, he allowed four runs and four hits and walked five in 1 2/3 innings.

On June 6 against Philadelphia, he allowed three runs and four hits and walked five in five innings.

And on June 11 against the Mets, he allowed seven runs (five earned) and seven hits and walked four in 3 1/3 innings.

In all, Ortiz permitted 49 base runners in 22 2/3 innings, and teams were batting .303 against him. roch.kubatko@baltsun.com
