Nationals update

The Nationals were swept by Boston this week to drop to 32-42 and fall to fourth place in the National League East. The Nationals took two of three from the Orioles last month in the first regular-season meeting between the Beltway rivals. Alfonso Soriano leads Washington with 24 home runs, 51 RBIs and 18 stolen bases. Nick Johnson leads the team in hitting at .312 and on-base percentage at .438. Rookie third baseman Ryan Zimmerman is also having a solid season with a .274 average, 10 homers and 46 RBIs. John Patterson, one of the team's stalwarts last season, will pitch for the first time in almost two months tonight. He was out with a forearm strain. Livan Hernandez has struggled but beat the Orioles in May.
