The latest word out of Pittsburgh is that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger could be ready for the Sept. 7 opener against Miami.
Before some of you Ravens fans greet this news as the end of the world, or feel that your prayers went unanswered, keep in mind that Roethlisberger underwent seven hours of surgery to repair all the fractures to his face. He broke his upper and lower jaw, his nose, some facial bones. He lost two teeth. He had an assortment of cuts. His head shattered a windshield. A pool of blood was found at the scene.
I love a good rivalry like the next guy, but I can't believe some people out there are celebrating the accident because it might mean two more victories this season. The guy could have died.
