Durruthy wins award for book

Dr. Stephanie Durruthy, a Howard County psychiatrist, won a Silver Award in ForeWord Magazine's Book of the Year listings. Her book, The Pregnancy Decision Handbook for Women with Depression, was entered in the "self help" category.

The award was given May 19 at the BookExpo America at the Washington Convention Center.

Neighbor Ride names two to board

Kenneth Clark of Kenneth Clark Co. Inc., a provider of commercial and defense transportation services headquartered in Ellicott City, and James E. Young, senior vice president of finance/chief financial officer at Howard County General Hospital, have been named to the board of directors of Neighbor Ride, a local nonprofit organization that arranges transportation for Howard County residents ages 60 and older.

The organization recruits volunteer drivers who use their own vehicles to take seniors to medical, social and other appointments.

Bank president on trade group's board

John A. Scaldara, president and chief operating officer of the Columbia Bank, a commercial bank headquartered in Howard County, has been elected to the 2006-2007 board of directors of the Maryland Bankers Association.

James W. Branner has been named Consumer Loan Specialist for the Columbia Bank. He will market a range of loan products and services to consumers in the region.

The Columbia Bank, which operates 25 banking offices in the Baltimore-Washington Corridor, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Fulton Financial Corp.
