Lpga Championship

June 07, 2006

Annika Sorenstam will be going after her fourth straight LPGA Champ- ionship, Karrie Webb will be trying to win her third event of the year and Michelle Wie is in pursuit of her first professional victory. They will be the favorites at Bulle Rock, but others have a chance:

Lorena Ochoa

After three wins in her first three seasons, the 24-year-old from Mexico (above) has become the No. 1 player on the tour in 2006. She already has won twice and finished second five times.

Paula Creamer

Last year's top rookie (and No. 2 player overall) finished tied for third at Bulle Rock, and after a sluggish start this season, the 19-year-old has recently shown signs of returning to the top of the leader board, where she was twice in '05.

Juli Inkster

An opening-round 75 doomed the chances of this two-time LPGA champion (above) last year, but a closing 69 left her tied for 13th. Has won once this year and at 45 is still dangerous. Too bad the tournament is still not being played in Delaware.

Natalie Gulbis

At 23, she has been close to winning several times in her five-year career, including a tie for fifth in Havre de Grace last year and one shot out of a playoff at this year's Kraft Nabisco. Started this season with four top-five finishes in her first six events.

Mi Hyun Kim

The 29-year-old South Korean is in the midst of a revival with her first victory since 2002 in the Ginn Clubs & Resorts Open. Had good rounds the first day (69) and last day (67) to finish tied for seventh in her first visit to Bulle Rock.
