BOYS PLAYER OF THE YEAR

David Nguyen

WildeLake

The sophomore went 21-0, knocking off nationally ranked Jared Pinsky of Churchill and Chris Goodwin from Rockville in the state semifinals and finals. Nguyen had lost all 10 of his previous matches to Pinsky before capturing a three-set victory over the two-time state champion.

GIRLS PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Ydsia Quintero

Atholton

She played No. 1 singles for the Raiders and helped them win the county girls team title for the first time in at least a decade. Quintero, a sophomore, finished with an 18-1 record, with her only loss coming in the state tournament.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Jean Vanderpool

Centennial

The longtime coach, who stepped down after this season, led the Eagles to a 17-1 record. The Eagles lost to River Hill, 3-2, in the Howard County championship match. Vanderpool's teams went 50-2 over the past three seasons.
